Camp Bowie

During World War I, Camp Bowie Boulevard became a training camp for 36th Division soldiers, and the camp trained more than 100,000 men before closing in 1919. By the 1920s Thurber bricks paved the boulevard for cars, and businesses such as Blue Bonnet Bakery and Kincaid's opened along it in the decades that followed.
